Richard David

Richard David, an Australian by birth and recipient of Shanghai’s highest accolade awarded to foreigners, The Gold Magnolia, for contribution to Business and Community is a four decade veteran of real estate development and investment. 

Starting out with Australia’s innovative investment house, Macquarie Bank, in the 1980’s and going on to head up its China real estate business in the late 1990’s, Richard was a first mover as a western real estate developer in mainland China. This role combined the facets of direct development (over 5,000 units built and sold) with the discipline of private equity in which the clients included Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, AMP Insurance and Schroder Capital. 

Subsequently Richard joined Treasury Holdings as the CEO and Board Director of its then soon to be listed London,UK China Real Estate business, ultimately overseeing a portfolio in excess of USD2.0bn of commercial, retail and logistics real estate assets.

Over the course of more than 7 years as a public company CEO Richard secured the confidence of InvestCo, Canada Life, Metlife, JP Morgan & Morgan Stanley as shareholders. 


Following the sale of the listed platform to one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest private real estate businesses in 2013, Proventus Asia was established. 

Cindy David

Prior to relocating to Canada, Cindy David enjoyed a successful 16 year career in Research and Investor Relations in the financial and real estate industries in both listed and private vehicles in major Asia Pacific markets, namely Shanghai, Beijing Singapore and Hong Kong.


Cindy first entered the real estate industry through CB Richard Ellis where she gained extensive knowledge in various property sectors encompassing residential, commercial and industrial.


In 2005, Cindy joined Macquarie Goodman, one of the largest Australian industrial property trusts initially based in Hong Kong. When the business expanded into the China market, Cindy moved to Shanghai to head up the marketing division in China and also assist with the investment team with the acquisition of the seed assets. In 2009, Cindy joined Treasury Holdings Group, an Irish developer with a USD 2bn asset under management in commercial assets in China. She worked at Treasury Holdings as Director of Marketing and Investor Relations, responsible for the investor relations of Forterra Trust, a Singapore listed Business Trust managed by Treasury Holdings Group.


Cindy graduated from Nankai University with a Bachelor in Economics degree in 1996, she also has a MBA from University of Warwick and certificate in Investor Relations granted by Investor Relations Association in UK and Singapore.
